Why measurements matter
A cap that is too large slips and lifts at the hairline; a cap that is too tight causes pressure and headaches. Because every Woodrow wig is made to order, we can build your lace top to your exact measurements for a secure, comfortable and invisible fit.
What you'll need
- A soft, flexible tape measure (a sewing tape is ideal)
- A mirror — or a friend to help
- Your hair flat: braided, pinned or wrapped as you will wear it under the wig
How to measure your head
- Circumference: Start at the front hairline, go behind the ear, around the nape of the neck, behind the other ear and back to the front.
- Front to nape: From the front hairline, over the top of the head, down to the nape of the neck.
- Ear to ear over the top: From the top of one ear, over the crown, to the top of the other ear.
- Temple to temple: Around the back of the head, from one temple to the other.
Measure in inches, keep the tape snug but not tight, and write down each number. Enter them when you choose Custom measurements in the wig designer.
Tip: Measure twice. If you fall between sizes, your specialist will advise you.
Standard cap sizes
| Cap size | Circumference | Front to nape | Ear to ear |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 21" | 13.5" | 12.5" |
| Medium | 22" | 14" | 13" |
| Large | 22.5" | 14.5" | 13.5" |
These are typical industry sizes; most clients are a Medium. For the most accurate fit, choose Custom measurements.
Choosing your length
Wig length is measured from the crown to the ends with the hair pulled straight. Curly and wavy textures will appear shorter than their stated length.
- 14"–16": around the collarbone to shoulders
- 18"–20": just past the shoulders to mid-back
- 22"–24": mid-back
- 26"–30": lower back and beyond
Where the hair falls also depends on your height and build.
Choosing your density
- 130%: natural, light and airy — the most realistic everyday look
- 150%: natural with a little more fullness; our most popular choice
- 180%: full and glamorous
- 200%: maximum volume for a dramatic finish
